Well, I hope not. I really want to see the MG version of the 00 Qan[T] ASAP. The HG is out (before the movie even came out) and they're supposedly releasing the SD kit in December. So for all we know, Oct 2010 ~ July 2011 we can get a MG 00 Qan[T]. At the rate that Bandai is releasing these kits lately, I wouldn't be too surprised if they've been working on the MG 00 Qan[T] for a while now, and I bet they're going to be reusing trees like they've been doing with the 00 kits.
The one thing we've learned from watching Bandai's MG release schedule since the forum was launched, is that its impossible to predict what they'll do next.

A MG Qan[T] could absolutely be the November master grade release (which is confirmed as a mobile suit from the 00 series), equally the MG may never be released.

The HG version looks like a very competent model and as your a fan of the mobile suit I think you'll really enjoy the kit.

BTW, if you do get the HG version , will you be picking up the Full Saber special parts, which will come with Hobby Japan February 2011 (on sale December 25th 2010).

Man, I'm such a sucker for option parts. I love taking what is basically a blank slate and making something cool out of it. The full saber isn't perfect, but I'm really liking how well it balances the look of that huge shield.

Well, I don't do modding.

What I do (or at least want to do now) is an actual spray paint job with Tamiya Spray paints and make the SD, HG, and MG version of the 00 Qan[T]...

The only thing that I think is a bit annoying or lame about the HG 00 Qan[T] is how they didn't go with a white part on the shield and how those blue stickers on the head supposedly don't fit correctly. Doesn't matter to me since I'm going to paint the entire kit anyway.

Oh and is this a good plan?

Take boxes or containers and clip out all the parts for each portion of the kit (head, left arm, right arm, body, left leg, right leg, left foot, right foot. Sand down the nub marks.

And then go 1 by 1 and spray paint each piece. Let it dry for a few hours. And then detail if necessary ... panel lines

Then spray on the the clear coat thing to keep it all sealed? Do I need to spray a primer first before the actual color spray paints?

What I'm considering to buy (in terms of tools and whatnot):

Tamiya TS-16 (Yellow)
Tamiya TS-20 (Metallic Green)
Tamiya TS-27 (Matte White)
Tamiya TS-38 (Gun Metal)
Tamiya TS-44 (Brilliant Blue)
Tamiya TS-49 (Bright Red)
Tamiya TS-80 (Flat Clear)
Tamiya Masking Tape with Dispenser 6mm
Tamiya Masking Tape with Dispenser 6mm REFILL
Testors Plastic Model Sprue Cutter
Testors Hobby Knife
Hobby Stix Swizzle Stick Sanders (25 assorted grits/Bag) (I think these are the same ones that Vegeta8259 uses)

I was a bit concerned about that Full Saber thing. I'm thinking that Bandai will release another version of the HG with the saber as well as like an upgrade kit. And then the SD and MG will have it all.

...Or not.

I mean does the movie 00 Qan[T] have that?

We'll have to wait until 18th September for the movies release to see if a Full Saber weapon is included.

I like you plans for the HG Qan[T], ambitious but achievable. If the Qan[T] will be your first attempt at spray painting, I'd advise you to get a cheaper SD Exia (they're about $6) and practice on that before moving on to the HG kit.

Hope you will be able to create a work in progress thread to keep us up to speed on your build. The Tamiya paints you are getting are excellent and should give you great results.

BTW, don't forget to also pick up a mask/ respirator to use when spray painting, the fumes are very toxic.

I plan on spraying it outside on the deck. What kind of mask do I need?

During the day. Being that I'm unemployed at the moment, I have a lot of time. T_T

I wish I had at least a part-time cashier job so I could make some money each week. But~~ There's always Amazon.com sales which is what I'm currently doing. I've been selling a lot of my PS2, DS, and GBA games.

(HINT HINT. Would appreciate it people from here checked out my store and bought stuff and also asked people they know if they might want to buy anything).

I guess whenever I buy anything and whenever I start building the kit and painting and cleaning it up, I'll post videos showing it off on my YouTube channel.

=D

* Though I did apply to a local Rite Aid store a while ago in July but apparently the store was moving so all applications are being held until they move (like September/October is when the manager said they'd start hiring again. I assume they'd need at least 1 person who competent to work there with the school year starting. I wrote that I wanted the morning shift so I'm sure that's something they'd appreciate since people are at school during those hours...the high school kids and college student are away on campus).

I guess whenever I buy anything and whenever I start building the kit and painting and cleaning it up, I'll post videos showing it off on my YouTube channel.

=D

Actually, you wouldn't have to do much modding at all if you want flying bits. All you need is a cheap action base 2, wire, and a drill. Drill holes the action base 2 slightly wider than the wire, insert the wire (wrap it in electrical tape if the hole is too wide). To attach the wire to the bit, it depends on what you have to work with. For the sword bits, I plan on attaching a very small amount of blu tack to the back and stick it to the wire. There are many other ways, though. If it's a wider bit like a funnel, you could also drill a small hole or use whatever the kit uses to attach it and use the tape again if it's too wide. If you're interested in modding at all, this would be a very simple way to start. You can than dress up the wire if you have some hot glue and the twist tie like things they pack action figures with. Just lay the clear ties along the wire and glue them on. Spray it with tamiya clear paint (whatever color you choose, I use blue) and you have what looks like an energy blast. I really like it, adds a lot to the display for little work.

As for whether or not Bandai will re-release the full saber, very unlikely. It's MSV suit, meaning most likely not in the film, and the kit most like it, magazine exclusive XN Raiser, never got a re-do.

Well, I don't intend on doing modding or flying bits.

I prefer to do a clean build as it was intended via the instruction booklet.

Sure, it's up to you really. Just promise you won't use that horrible crab gun, lol. I really like the look of the suit. With a little paint work, it could really shine. I look forward to your WIP. Keep us updated!

I will...

But it might be a while until I even start the work in progress since:

a. i'm unemployed
b. have bills to pay like student loans (and money is very very tight these days)
c. searching for a job (even a cashier, part-time job would be fine at the moment)
d. i do have my other video gaming hobby, and i am considering to collect manga (a few series)

i did a "test" check out and the supplies (all the spray cans, sanding, nippers.) came out to be out $60 including (or was it not? Lol) shipping...

>_<

what i really would appreciate if my amazon items started selling like crazy so i can deposit some money into my account. i hope that they do soon....

i did sorta get lucky with someone from ohio who bought my guilty gear xx accent core plus (ps2) today. i just checked my email a few mins ago. i was eatin dinner downstairs so i didnt know...

=D

so that's at least some money now...i just hope i get more sales tomorrow (or soon)...

Getting a part time job should really be your priority (well after school) since work does so much more for a person then just getting you money.
That said depending where you live it might be hard to actually get one; If you lived in the Netherlands id get you one easily ;)

Well, I live in North America, but thanks for the nice gesture.

Anyway, on a side note, I managed to make 2 sales on my Amazon store in the past 2 days. First it was Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus, and today when I checked my email, I got a notice that someone bought my Marvel vs. Capcom 2.

;)

And by "school" I mean college. I should really be working at a salary paying job with benefits, sick days, vacation days, etc. But since I am not, I still try every few days a week to submit resumes. I'm only looking for an entry position. At the moment though, I'm also waiting on an interview call from a local "Rite Aid" store. It's a drug store/convenient store/pharmacy type of store. They were apparently moving the store "down the street" so I need to wait a little bit longer. And hopefully, they will see the value in my work history and the fact that I'm probably more reliable, consistent, and able to work since I have a college degree, and my "work history" involves cashier positions (unfortunately, but at least I do have a work history).

I am in what equals university by American terms (different system) and though I am currently unemployed due to injuries I have been doing cashiers work for 4 years now, last year I had supervision over 3-4 people; its not much but at least having work history is better then nothing.

I guess you're talking about the GN Sword IV part? Well, it does look pretty cool but in all honesty, I'd rather not buy it since it wasn't used in the movie apparently. It's from the 00 manga or the side story thing. ;)

After much though, I find that this Full Saber Add-On is pointless since it doesn't appear in the movie, hence I consider it non-canon/not-necessary.

It does look bad-ass, but you're gonna need to do A LOT of painting since it seems like it'll be molded all in blue and clear.

I'm actually going to get it even though I don't plan to buy the kit itself for a good while.
I mean in the worst case I resell it and break even and in the best case I save myself a lot of money in the future.

I will most likely also pick this up even though I've absolutely no intention to get the HG Qan[T].

I got the XN raiser last year and have still to get a HG 00 (I still haven't build my PG version and have no intention of buying another version of that mobile suit).

@suiton, if you have the fund available, I'd strongly advise you to pick up the accessory. IMO, irrespective of whether it appears in the movie, its a must have item for a Qan[T] fan. I agree with kibo, it looks badass.

Maybe you haven't noticed, but:

a. I'm still unemployed without benefits like unemployment checks
b. I have expenses to pay at the end of each month like student loans and credit card payment (luckily only 1)
c. I don't intend on GunPla'ing for that long. The only kits I want are the SD, HG, and MG 00 Qan[T].
d. I've been selling stuff on Amazon. (speaking of which I have a panel lining marker, 2 Sparkle Clear Gree stands and the MG God Gundam clear parts tree on my store among other stuff)

To be honest it's not to much, it's only white and gray so it wouldn't take to long and you should be happy where at least getting the clear green. I think it's the only redeeming feature in the Qan[t] since the suit itself apparently was only in the film for like 5 minutes.

I don't know what it is about it, but, I just don't like the GN Sword IV... I'd rather have another shield with sword bits on it then a GN Tactical arms. Quanta doesn't look like one of those omghuge sword users. Maybe 00 Raiser, but, Quanta looks too streamlined and compact to have that hulking weapon.
